WHAT IS ONSITE HAIR AND MAKEUP?
If your vendor says that they do on site hair and makeup, that means that they will come to you wherever you are - whether that's at the venue, a hotel, your house, anywhere. There are some major convenience benefits to opting for this, and usually the cost isn't different.
BEST PRACTICE FOR CHOOSING A PLACE TO GET READY
If all of your bridal party is staying at the hotel then it might be easiest to get ready there. If you are in a hotel, a suite is awesome, but if it's not an option, you can do a regular room (or two depending on the amount of people) or even a conference room.
If you want a laid back day, it might be easier to get ready at the venue, or wherever your pictures are going to be first. Brides are even renting out Airbnbs to get ready in and that definitely yields a fun morning.
ARE TIMELINES NECESSARY FOR HAIR AND MAKEUP?
ABSOLUTELY! This is great way to keep your morning organized and on time. The timeline will include you, your bridesmaids, maybe your flower girls and the mothers, whomever is opting for hair and/or makeup.
You will see your pictures forever. If you feel beautiful, you'll not only be overjoyed for the day but also every time you see yourself in pictures.
WHAT ABOUT A TRIAL FOR HAIR AND MAKEUP
You should absolutely do a trial for your hair and makeup. This is typically included in the package that you book through your stylist. 4-6 weeks before the wedding is a great time to have your trial. Why? Your hair color and length is going to be similar to what you'll have on your wedding day. Also, the rest of the vision for your wedding is coming together, which makes it easier to pick a style of hair. With more details confirmed, you can envision what everything will look like together.
HEIDI'S ADVICE FOR BRIDES & GROOMS
Hair related: Be OK with being really picky. Don't feel bad if you don't like something, it's your special day.
Wedding Related: Everyone should have a wedding purpose/mission statement. What do you want your wedding to achieve? Talk to your fiancé about it and keep this at the forefront of the planning process. Keep coming back to it because it'll keep you sane.
Just remember, brides, this is YOUR big day. It is perfectly fine to be picky. In fact, it is suggested to be picky. After all, you want to feel beautiful on this amazing day!
