Why a Good DJ Matters

JAY'S DISCLAIMER: Adagio is not your typical DJ company. They're all about the client and not about the individual DJ. A lot of other companies make it about themselves and this is something you need to avoid, big time.

The best advice is to let your family have just as a good day as you want to have. Have a planner to a coordinator to come in and point everyone in the right direction.

If you don't feel right about a vendor, you should cut ties, even if you lose out on your deposit. You should feel as if you connect and trust your vendor.

WHAT SHOULD COUPLES DO WHEN THEY ARE LOOKING TO BOOK A DJ?

The first thing you should do is ask for a quote as to what they would cost. The DJ might ask to meet with you to figure out your style and what kind of music you like or what you want. They want your wedding to have that "WOW factor." They might help you figure out what music to play when and what kind of music to play. Something that Jay suggests is to have the ceremony music start when guests arrive to sit down, instead of having the music start when the bridal party walks down the aisle. This will help to move everyone into their seats to begin the ceremony.

A lot of what goes on stems from the DJ. There is a lot of behind the scenes that Dj's do that sets them apart. They might coordinate with the planner, the videographer and photographer to plan when music happens, or when the cake is being cut, etc.

IS IT BETTER TO HAVE A LIVE BAND OR A DJ FOR A WEDDING

Both are great options, it just depends on what you and your guests want. Your DJ will help you decide what is best for you. They will usually sit down with you and track down the genuine moment of what you want.

Be different. Do different things. It's OK to be traditional and it's also OK to be non-traditional. Do what feels right to you.

HOW SHOULD YOU DECIDE ON A FIRST DANCE SONG?

Come together with your fiancé. Create a list of songs that remind you of your spouse and have them do the same. Think of the mood you want to convey. Think of the "WOW Factor" and how your guests will feel while you dance to that song or while they dance to those songs. Step outside the box and explain to your guests why you chose the song you did. Have the DJ explain during your first dance.

Know the lyrics to the song, it'll be more memorable.
